About the trek

The Gala Coral team of 25 intrepid trekkers were selected from over 100 eager employees who put their name forward to be part of this exhilarating but extremely worthy challenge.

They will set off in October on the gruelling two week journey to Everest Base Camp, which will see them trek 75 miles and ascending 2,700 meters up the world’s highest mountain.

The challenge will call upon the team to ‘group together’ in real Gala Coral-style to support one another while they fly the flag for the work the company does to support Sue Ryder Care.

Through a number of ongoing initiatives Gala Coral is aiming to raise £1million for Sue Ryder Care, which provides expert and compassionate care to people living with conditions including cancer, multiple sclerosis, stroke and Huntington’s Disease.

In the true spirit of the partnership the trekkers will also be joined by a colleague from Sue Ryder Care who will raise vital funds to help the charity continue to provide care that liberates lives in 14 care centres and community-based services across the UK.

Having covered the basic cost of the trek, the pressure is now on for each member to hit their individual fundraising target of £4000.  If you’re wondering how donations will reach those in need of support:

  • £7.50 pays for a stress-relieving complementary therapy session for someone with cancer

  • £50 pays for a programme of bereavement sessions to help people cope with loss
